St. Baldrick's 2012

I had never heard of St. Baldrick's until a few weeks ago when Evan came home and said he wanted to participate in the upcoming event at The Factory. He wanted to help raise awareness and money for kids with cancer. He wanted to get his head shaved with a team of others from his school who were going to do the same! So, we did a little research about the program and how the funds are appropriated and then signed him up!

The event started on Saturday at noon. Evan was scheduled to be shaved at 1:30. We had no idea what to expect upon arriving at The Factory. People were everywhere. Music was playing and games and food were set up to enjoy. A crowd of people were packed in by the stage which had 6 chairs for the shavees. The chairs were full the entire time we were there! Over 300 participants. Over 80 from Evan's school. Over $105,000 raised to date! Pretty incredible. Even a few girls participated...

As the hair started coming off, this little girl's cheeks were stained with tears. No doubt she loves someone who's been struck by cancer and she was doing this to support them. It was really heart warming to watch.

Another female (26 years old) ready for a shave... She raised over $3,000 for St. Baldrick's!

One of Evan's favorite teachers at school.

Nat and Noah waiting on Evan's turn...

Up next...

Small typo with the last name... Hollingswork?

Evan pretty much smiled and laughed the whole time. It may or may not have something to do with the fact that there was a gaggle of girls standing in front of him who were calling his name, smiling, and taking pictures:)

Lookin' good there Evan! You can totally rock the shaved head!

So, here's a side-by-side so you can really see the difference! Proud of you, Evan, and the fearless way you lead!
