Live in the Moment

We jumped in the car Thursday evening to go to the Open House and Curriculum Fair at Heritage High School. Yes, high school! Evan will start 9th grade in the fall and we are now making preparations for the big transition. While in the car, I asked him if it would embarrass him if I took the camera... duh! He gave me a look and a "YES" and told me to forget the camera and live in the moment. I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask even though I already knew the answer:) We spent a couple of hours at the school... touring, attending a parent meeting for rising 9th graders, and shuffling lots of paperwork.  We chatted with the principal (who is a member of our church). We signed up to help with the athletic boosters club. Imagine that? And I partly had to hold back the tears. We are excited and nervous about the year ahead. No doubt he will be fine. But he's our baby. You know, our first born... how can it be time for all this?

As a Mom, I'm learning more and more about what it means to live in the moment. Sharing life with these that I love... because these moments won't last forever.
