Oaks City Church

Since last May, we've been hit hard with the question "So what's next?" Chuck graduated from the seminary and we've been praying about what the answer to that very question would be. When we would know? How would it be possible? Where would we go?

We should not be surprised that the Lord has been preparing us for a beautiful opportunity here in our own community. In our season of waiting He has made His plan known to us through North Wake Church and the body of believers there. Over the past several weeks, we have begun meeting with a core group who NW is sending out to plant Oaks City Church. It has been so neat to see how God is binding our hearts together for our good and His glory as we work together to reach the people of north Raleigh. The target area is very eclectic, expressing socio-economic diversity that is multi-cultural and  multi-generational. The area is located between the inner and outer beltlines of North Raleigh, bordered by Leesville Road on the west and Six Forks Road on the east. Census data shows that over 55,000 people live in this area and nearly 50,000 of those people don't know Christ.

Our group is currently meeting in our home each week to share and pray together and we consider it a privilege to open our home for this purpose. Just this last week we hosted our first Easter celebration! The commissioning of this church plant from North Wake will take place May 19th. Chuck and I have been leading a small group for several years and we are currently phasing out of that role as we dive in to this new adventure. We will forever be grateful for all that North Wake has taught our family and the relationships that have been built there. We have loved every.single.minute of this journey with such sweet friends and feel like the next few weeks will be difficult as we make the final adjustments.
