5-9-11 A's vs Orioles
Evan had a great game! He played 1st base and made some great plays. He had a BIG hit to left center that earned him a triple. He was the closing pitcher and the A's won 7-3. The game ball was given to him as the MVP of the game! Way to go #8!
5-11-11 A's vs White Sox
This was a crazy game that didn't start off well at all for our team. Evan was the lead-off batter. 1st inning he hits an infield grounder and is thrown out at 1st. Batters 2 and 3 did the same thing. On defense, he made all 3 outs at 1st. The 2nd inning is where the trouble started... pitcher walked most everyone and loaded the bases. Wild throws to 3rd and one to home sent their runners running, scoring 2 runs. The next couple innings were more of the same... more walks, bases filled, and 3 runners walked HOME. I could hardly stand it. We were giving them these runs! (Can you tell I have a bit of competitive mom-itis?) Anyway, we changed pitchers hoping to put a stop to some of the nonsense. We were down 5 to 0 going into the 5th inning. Top of the lineup coming up... Evan walked and the momentum finally got going. We were finally loading the bases with our players!! Evan stole home (he loves to steal bases) and we were finally on the board. We scored some more runs and tied up the game 6-6 in the 6th inning. We left the winning run on 3rd. Overtime starts... for 2 more innings we held them and left our own stranded at 3rd again. Evan was pitching at this point but it was getting so late. At 10:15pm, as the ump was giving the ok to start yet another inning, the parents were complaining and ready to leave. The kids were tired and many of them had EOG testing today. It was "declared" that we would finish the game later... not sure how or when we'll do that but we were glad to get home and put the children to bed!
