Runner's Camp Recap

We were excited to be a part of Runner's Camp again this year! I was one of the AGL's (Age Group Leaders) for the 6 year old girls...because Natalie was attending camp this year for the first time and I wanted to be with her group:) Evan was a youth helper with the 10 year old boys, meaning he helped with Noah's group. We had such a great time working through the scriptures and learning about the great gifts that the Lord has given us during our bible study time each morning. Then the kids eagerly joined in with other campers as they rotated through track and field events each day. It was HOT, HOT, HOT and were were armed with water to drink and water to spray all over the kids. I think it went down as the hottest Runner's Camp in history:)

Heading out on Day 1
I loved getting to serve alongside these sweet friends
My energetic bunch for the week

One of my favorite things to see didn't take place at camp but at home.   Each camper received a Training Manual (devotional) to use each night at home... it reviewed what they'd been taught at camp that day and took them deeper into the scriptures to ready them for the next days lesson.  Noah and Natalie were eager to work in the TM's at home. It was so sweet to sit with Natalie and hear her read the Bible and answer questions about what she'd read:)

By the end of the week, they were ready for some friendly competition! Each camper could pick 2 field events to compete in and up to 3 running events.

Noah placed 2nd in Javelin
And he placed 1st in the High Jump
Natalie placed 1st in Discus and 5th in Javelin
The running events took place on Saturday morning at Heritage High School. All the campers march into the stadium with their team flags as the Olympic music plays. They smile and wave to their "fans" and get ready to run!!

Noah competed in the Hurdles, 400m, and 1600m and placed 1st in each event! I can't get over how fast this child can run! His time in the 1600m was 6 minutes 28 seconds...Wow!

Miss Natalie did exceptionally well for her first meet. She placed 3rd in the 200m and socialized down the track during the Hurdles!! No really, she was smiling and chatting:)

And after it was all over, we sent Evan off with a group from our church to serve at Runner's Camp with Heart Change Fellowship in Boston! Praying they have a great time in the city this week and that the Lord uses them to further His kingdom!
