Hollingsworth News

We've been busy lately so I'll have to get you caught up with the latest in Hollingsworth news...

Noah is getting closer and closer to more dreaded orthodontic work. He recently had 6 teeth pulled to make room for others that were coming in wrong. The hopes were that these new teeth would straighten up some after they were fully in... but they haven't. Our dentist and orthodontist agree that he's got one of the worst cases. As far as ortho problems go, he's got everything imaginable! He'll go back in May and the braces and head gear (for his under-developed jaw) will be coming soon.

Natalie had to dress as someone famous for school one Friday. It was kind of short notice to have to come up with a really good costume... so Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus it was:)

She's been reading up a storm and it's so fun (and a little sad) to watch her growing up. She's always loved books, but now she wants to read them to me instead of me read them to her. Her latest favorites are The Magic Treehouse series.

Their elementary school just hosted a Pottery Extravaganza for the students and parents. Each grade had different creations on display for the event.  Here's what Noah and Natalie made...

Alot of these photos were taken with my phone... it's less conspicuous than my big camera; and I guess less embarrassing to the kids. I know they get sick of my Canon going to everything with us. I get the eyerolls and the "Ugh, MOM!" all the time. But, I can't help but want to capture every little moment. Maybe one day they'll be glad I took all these pictures:)

I haven't embarrassed Evan lately unless you count our wrestling match in the floor the other night. But, no photos were taken of that!! I do have to brag on him though. He helped some friends of ours yesterday with a move. Then, came home and spent hours cutting our grass. He also took care of our neighbors cats while they were away for a few weeks (and cut their grass.)  He's just finished registering for his classes for the first year of high school. It will be here before we know it! He's also trying out for the North Wake Baseball team next Saturday.

As far as sicknesses go... Natalie had a stomach bug on Monday and was up vomiting during the night. She apologized several times for messing up her bed:) Then Chuck came down with strep and was home from work/school for 2 days. Everyone seems to be on the mend and we are praying for no more yuckies at our house!

And in bigger news...
"Chuckles" is well on his way to finishing his last semester of seminary. He got an email the other day about ordering his cap, gown, invitations, etc. He's been working on a 25 page research paper that is taking up every spare moment of his life... He's on page 20! Yahoo! We are so very excited about his upcoming graduation!!!

On Friday I was brave enough to chaperone a trip to the NC Aquarium and Maritime Museum with the 4th graders at HES. It was a fun trip but made for a long day. We had to be at the school at 6am and returned around 7pm. Here's some photos from our day at the coast...

Noah's class
The group of boys I was responsible for
Watching the divers at the Living Shipwreck exhibit
Who doesn't want a shark hat?
The favorite of the day... touching stingrays
Clam digging
Outside marsh area
The sea otters were fun to watch
The Maritime Museum is in the small town of Beaufort, NC. We saw lots of friendly people, ate some ice cream, and walked on the board walk admiring the boats while we waited for our turn in the museum. Blackbeard's pirate ship was found off this coast and as they recover items from the ship they are taken to East Carolina University to be documented and cleaned. Afterwards, items are being displayed at the Maritime Museum. There were so many things on display... I believe they said over 300 items at this point. "Treasures," plates, canons, knives, books, gold, etc. It was really neat to read about and see all that has been recovered to date. The latest addition in the center of the museum is the skeleton of a sperm whale that washed up on shore. We were the first class of students to see him on display.
