We are packing our bags and headed to the city! Please be in prayer for our family and the others from North Wake Church who will be traveling to Boston tomorrow... like, the wee hours of the morning we'll be pulling out!! We are so excited to be partnering with Heart Change Fellowship to host a Runner's Camp for the children of that community. Our prayer is that Christ would be glorified in and through this camp.
Would you commit to pray for us? We already know that Satan can and will use ANY.little. THING to deter us from what the Lord has in store... Pray for:
1) Safe travels - already our suburban has been back in the shop this week. We have it back now and hope 'old blue' can survive the trip:)
2) Pleasant children - this may be far reaching, but it would be nice considering we'll have our 3 children in the car with us for a 14+ hour trip. They fussed and fought all the way to and from the lake this morning and that takes 15 minutes!
3) Heart Change Fellowship Church - as they prepare for camp and minister to the families of Boston; specifically, Pastor Marion Mason and his family who will be hosting us in their home this week!
4) Our hearts and attitudes - may we be unified in our purpose in going to serve in Boston and that we would serve joyfully no matter what the conditions.
5) Changed lives - ours and the people of Boston - We know that there is gang activity in the area where we will be this week... and these people need to see Christ. May our lives reflect the hope we have and may we be bold for HIM.
Chuck and I have talked often about 'urban ministry' and the possibility of moving to an urban area to minister. We went to Chicago last year with a group from the seminary and I got a taste of real city life! The problem for me was trying to visualize what it would look like to live in the city... with a family! This week will offer us a glimpse of what that really would look like. Please pray that God would stir our hearts over the course of this week and reveal HIS plan for our lives.
... and stay tuned! I'll update you when we return:) And if you'd like to learn more about Runner's Camp visit HERE.
