Pop Warner Mid-South Region Scholar Tribute

We took Evan to Winston Salem yesterday for the Seventh Annual Pop Warner Mid-South Region Scholar Tribute! (That's a mouthful to say!) It was held at the Wake Forest University campus. The guest speaker (pictured above) was Buddy Curry, a graduate of UNC and former Atlanta Falcon!
In 1980, Buddy was drafted in the second round by the Atlanta Falcons and was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. He played 8 years with the Falcons and lead the team in tackles each year. He is now the co-founder and Executive Director of Kids & Pros, Inc., a non-profit youth sports camp company which specializes in developing character and athletic skills in young athletes. The company provides children the opportunity to learn football skills as well as character development while interacting with many of their favorite professional players.
Each athlete was recognized for their accomplishments and several took home $500-$1000 scholarships!
Aaron, Bryce, Evan, and Josh - All North Raleigh Bulldog players. We are proud of our Bulldogs! I also have to note that Evan received a letter this week that said he's been selected as a 2010-2011 All American Scholar. As a recipient of this honor, he ranks academically in the top 2% of approximately 410,000 students that take part in Pop Warner programs! These All Americans will be recognized at the 51st Annual National Awards Recognition Program in Chicago at the end of May!!
