April 20, 2002 - A day like many others... I went to my nephews baseball game with my Mom, ate at Dairy Queen (which later came back to haunt me!), settled back at the house and couldn't wait to take a long, hot bath! I was 8 months pregnant and tired and hoping to get some rest that night. Then came the pains. Then came the nausea. It got worse and worse. I felt sicker and sicker. So we call my dr. to see what I should do. Shortly after, I'm at the hospital. In TERRIBLE pain and vomitting in a bucket. Yeah, I told you the DQ came back to haunt me:) So it appeared after all the poking and prodding and talking and observing, that I was in fact in labor... a month early! I hurt so bad I couldn't even be still. The nurses kept coming in my room to check the baby monitor that was strapped to my rather large belly. It kept sliding out of place because I was moving around so much. The puke bucket stayed close by for hours on end and poor Chuck got no sleep in the so called recliner next to my bed. It was a long night. At some point, I was given fluids and antibiotics for an infection. My blood pressure went way high then way low for a while so in came the EKG machine. I was tired of all the monitors and ready to get the show on the road! Finally, I received the ever lovely Pitocin to help kick start the delivery. 19 hours later... we had another beautiful baby boy. Seems like it was just yesterday!
Fast forward to 2011... we asked Noah what he wanted to do for his birthday, and as always, he had trouble deciding! After days of talking about it, he had reached a decision and made a list:) If you know anything about our family, you know that list making and calendars have become extremely important. Why? Well, first of all it keeps us organized but mostly because it part of the therapy recommendations for Noah. He needs to visually "see" what each day holds in order to prepare him for what's expected... So, we made a birthday list and stuck to it! I have to say that it feels good to know that he was completely satisfied and wanted to spend the day with us. It didn't take an elaborate party or spending tons of money. He even said it was the "best birthday ever!"
