This is Noah's mouth. The mouth that will cost us a fortune! If you look closely at the bottom teeth you can see 2 permanent teeth coming in in a "V" formation... this is a huge problem! We just went to an orthodontist for a referral so he and the dentist (Dr. Buddy) can make a plan. The plan is that at least 4 teeth have to be pulled really soon so that these others can "hopefully" straighten up and come on in! That many teeth to have pulled makes me want to cry:( Noah is already anxious about it and I know he'll be self conscious about it once it happens. Problem #2: he is missing a permanent tooth on top. They will probably have to "create" one for him at some point. Problem #3: over-crowding. We already knew this. He went to an orthodontist in Ga several years ago and wore an appliance for a while to help create space and correct his cross bite and remedy his thumb sucking habit. Well, the thumb sucking has continued to be a problem and the cross bite is back! Problem #4: his lower jaw is still under-developed and will require some type of appliance as well. Problem #5: his teeth do not produce enough enamel, which equals more cavities (especially for a kid who doesn't like to brush his teeth!) He just had 2 cavities filled last week. At his check up 6 months ago, he had a cavity that had to be filled , and the check up before that... yep, you guessed it. A cavity! Problem #6: even after all of this, he will need braces:) Guess it'll be a family affair... Evan is waiting to get his braces as soon as his last few baby teeth come out. And Mommy dear needs them too! Fun times!
