SAT

This is Broughton High School in Raleigh... where Evan took the SAT for the first time on Saturday... as a 12 year old!!
He took the test as part of Duke University's TIP (Talent Identification Program).
This program helps to identify academically gifted students and provide them with innovative programming to support their development. To learn more, go to http://www.tip.duke.edu/index.html

This was his admission ticket and ID Form to get in.

Chuck took him for the test and said it was total craziness. They got there about 7:30 and there were tons of people in line. Once they got inside, he helped him find where to go. They actually had at least 9 classrooms full of 7th graders testing for the Duke TIP. Evan was nervous but he felt alot of relief when he saw that he'd be in a room with other kids his age and not with a bunch of high school students! He even saw a friend from his football team and one from last year's baseball team. He said the test was "insanely hard!" What else would it be, right? I thought so when I took it in high school! I didn't have a writing part on the SAT when I took it, but now it does. That was the first part. 25 minutes to write an essay on this topic: Do you think an idealistic approach is less valuable than a practical approach in problem solving? I'm not so sure that I could have done well with that but Evan seems pretty confident in what he wrote. Then, there was the Math and Language sections of the test... he said he skipped alot of them:) Regardless of his scores, it was a great experience for him. Now, we wait to see how he did!
