PurpleStride

PurpleStride Raleigh-Durham 2010 was all about raising awareness and funding for Pancreatic Cancer... Why did I run? It wasn't about winning the race, winning any prize, or even because I like to run! I actually sort of hate running! I had knee surgery in highschool and am without a meniscus and alot of cartilage in my right knee. So it hurts, alot! Doctors probably wouldn't even recommend that I try it at all, but sometimes I do. And this time, it was all about a special man that we lost too soon. It was all about MY DAD who became one of the cancer statistics at age 59.
He is greatly missed!

We has these shirts made to wear to Relay for Life the year Daddy died... we pulled them back out for our 5K

The paparazzi... no wait, that's just Dillan:)

My Mom, a picture of love and grace... and a real trooper during this race!

Before the race, as they announce fundraising totals...over $86,000 raised for Pancreatic Cancer Research! Way to go Raleigh!

Nearing the start of the race

Evan finished 5th overall... out of around 700 participants! He's pretty much one of those "Go hard or go home" kind of kids:)

Slowly but surely! The whole time, my knee hurt. I was tired! But I kept in my hand a card that said..."I am here in memory of my Dad"
He suffered for months. In constant pain. I could suffer a little too!

Greeting Mom and Lynn at the finish!

I am so glad to have had this experience with my family!

Maybe we've started a new tradition?

Thank you God for these memories that I'll cherish forever!
