Today was the boys last day of track out... school starts back on Monday. I wanted to get out of the house with them and enjoy their last day "off" so I asked Chuck for some suggestions. My original ideas would have cost money. Money that we really don't have to spend... I would have loved to have gone to the fair or done something really exciting. He led me to think of others by serving and not focusing on our own wants... so we picked up trash on the side of the road and had a great time! The kids didn't argue about it at all and kind of turned it into a competition of sorts. You know, see who can get the most! We headed out with a few bags and some rubber gloves and started walking. We got in some good exercise and practiced street safety rules too:) We had good conversations about why we were serving others and some hilarious comments about some of the things we picked up! Afterwards, we walked over to a local park to play and throw rocks in the pond. Plus, they did get an icecream treat, too!
