Story time with the kids

Tonight we read our our favorite bible, The Jesus Storybook. The stories in this bible capture every part of God's Word in ways that children can understand, without leaving out the details of God's plan. Tonight we read about the story of Joseph and how he was sold into slavery by his brothers. We talked about how this would make us feel if our family treated us this way. After reading, I asked the kids what are some things they can learn from this story. These are their responses: Be merciful, God has a plan, God is still in control no matter what happens, Be kind, Treat people fair, and We must forgive! It's so comforting to know that our children know that God is control. I pray that we are able to live out the example Christ has set before us in our lives. When I asked for things we should pray about this is what was said: (Noah says) "We need to pray for Chris and Alisa (our neighbors) because they are sick and we need to pray for Aunt Amanda's trip to see us this weekend. We want her to be safe." (Natalie says) "Thank God for Jesus and our family and Lucy (my sister's dog!) (Evan says) "Pray for North Wake's debt." I told the kids that Logan is sick and in the hospital so we had special prayer for him and we also prayed for the small group we will be starting in December. Even though these prayer requests are all so different, it's so great to know that God sees each request as important and he hears our prayers!
